Make a donation today to support Rolling Fork
On Friday, March 24th, an F-4 tornado went through Rolling Fork, leaving a path of total devastation in its wake.
Residential areas and businesses in town and along Highway 61 were completely destroyed. Offices, restaurants, homes, and lives were turned upside down. However, as Mr. Rogers said, when things look overwhelming, look for the helpers. The helpers have been plenty and amazing. People have shown up with large equipment, chainsaws, lots of food and shoulders to cry on.
Update May 24, 2023 – We are two months post tornado and there is still so much to be done. Currently, many homes and businesses have been demolished, a great many trees have been cut, and a good bit of debris has been hauled away. But there is still so much debris to remove, buildings to come down, and restoration of homes and businesses to be accomplished. There aren’t as many volunteers in town as there once were but needs are still there. The Distribution Center is still operating and always needs volunteers and if you have a group wanting to provide meals one day, those are always welcome since we are very limited on food providers at this point. Call the Sharkey County Emergency Management Agency to schedule any volunteer groups. Please continue to support Rolling Fork and its recovery efforts.
