Willy Bearden to Speak on November 18th

October 29, 2014

Agriculture in the Mississippi Delta has certainly changed over the years. Machines have moved from man and mule power to being powered by huge diesel engines, from costing a few hundred dollars to costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, from employing many workers to employing only a few.

Rolling Fork native, Willy Bearden will discuss the changes in agriculture and the way they changed the Delta as he presents the final 2014 Lower Delta Talk entitled From Mules to Modern Machinery: An Agricultural Progression.

Bearden, now a resident of Memphis, is the founder of The William Bearden Company, a video and event production company, that has been creating national and international productions since 1988. Bearden has also authored several books and is founding member of the University of Memphis’ Delta, Everything Southern symposium.

The Lower Delta Talk will be held at the Sharkey Issaquena County Library on November 18, at 6:30 p.m. Talks are free and open to the public, please join us!
