Natural Resource Enterprises Workshop on March 1 in Rolling Fork

Natural Resource Enterprises workshops are designed for landowners interested in learning about developing enterprises from the natural resources on their property or learning more about wildlife habitat and business management.

A Natural Resource Enterprises workshop will be held on March 1, in Rolling Fork. Hosted by Mississippi’s Lower Delta Partnership, the workshop will take place at the Rolling Fork Community Center on Parkway Avenue, and will start at 8:30 a.m.

Topics that will be explored at the local workshop include:

  • Revenue Potential for an outdoor recreational business
  • An example of a wildlife outfitter and guide service
  • Liability and legal considerations for landowners
  • Agritourism ventures and how to get started
  • 2014 Farm Bill Program opportunities
  • Wildlife habitats management for deer, turkey and waterfowl
  • Bird watching business opportunities in the delta
  • Marketing recreational opportunities on your land

Sponsors include Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Stations, Mississippi Farm Bureau, Miss-Lou Rural Tourism Education Initiative, Mississippi’s Lower Delta Partnership, Mississippi State University Extension Service, MSU Dept of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Sharkey Issaquena MSU Extension Service, Sharkey Issaquena NRCS, US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Walton Family Foundation.

A registration fee of $20 per person or $30 per couple is required; snacks and lunch will be provided, so advance registration is requested. You may register by mail or on-line at http://wildlifeworkshop.msstate.edu/register.asp.
