LDP to host workshops on 2014 Farm Bill Programs

May 16, 2016

The 2014 Farm Bill included several conservation programs available to landowners in the Mississippi Delta. Mississippi’s Lower Delta Partnership and Mississippi State Extension Service along with area Soil Conservation Commissions are hosting workshops at which each of these programs will be explained by NRCS wildlife biologist, Kevin Nelms. As Kevin notes, “Each Farm Bill is different and keeping abreast of changes and new programs is important for conservation in the Delta.  NRCS cannot deliver Farm Bill programs without willing participation from landowners and producers.  Therefore, we want to inform the public on what the current Farm Bill has to offer.” A special emphasis will be placed on new enrollment options for the WRE (formerly WRP) program.

The workshops will be held at the following dates and locations:

  • May 17 – Sharkey Issaquena County Library, 116 East China Street, Rolling Fork
  • May 18 – Warren County MSU Extension Service, 1100-C Grove Street , Vicksburg
  • May 24 – Louise Fire House, 60 Firehouse Road, Louise

Each workshop will be held from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm and will include lunch. The workshops are free for participants. Please call the LDP office at 662-873-6261 with any questions or to sign up for a workshop.
